Pandorium Blocks

Pandorium Blocks takes the shape-dropping idea and gives it a wider field and a third way to score. The board is 12 by 12, and a group vanishes when you complete a row, a column or a square - that last one changes everything, because a corner you would write off in other block games is a place to build here.

Nothing falls on a timer, so the pressure is entirely of your own making. You place a piece, you get another, and the game only ends when there is no room left for the one you are holding. Its own pace is unhurried - quiet music, soft interiors - and the run lasts exactly as long as your tidiness does.

How to play

Drag each shape from the tray onto the 12 by 12 grid and let go where it fits. A row, a column or a square that fills completely disappears and gives the space back. Look at the piece you are holding before you commit, because a shape wedged into the wrong gap costs you a corner you may need later. The run ends the moment nothing you are given will fit anywhere.

Controls

Drag and drop is the whole of it. Press on a shape in the tray, pull it across to the square you want it to sit on, and release to lock it down. Nothing rushes you while you are holding a piece, and a finger on a touchscreen works the same as a mouse.
