Afroman Fighter Pilot Trainer

Afroman Fighter Pilot Trainer is fought from the side, which turns a dogfight into something closer to fencing. You see your plane and your opponent in profile, so the whole fight is about angle and altitude: climbing above someone, cutting inside their turn, or diving through their line of fire before they can correct.

Your plane follows the mouse, which sounds forgiving and is not; small movements are the ones that keep you pointed at a target instead of swinging past it. Guns fire from the keyboard, so both hands are busy at once. Fights run one against one or in teams, and upgrading your aircraft with better weapons shifts what you can attempt, though a well-flown plain plane still beats an upgraded one flown badly.

How to play

Move the mouse to fly; the plane turns toward the pointer, so where you put it is where you end up. Fire with Z, X or the space bar once your nose is on the target, and keep firing while you pull through the turn rather than waiting for a perfect shot. Height is your best friend in a side-on fight, so trade a little speed for it when you can. Upgrade weapons between fights.

Controls

Flying is done with the mouse alone: the plane follows the pointer, so moving it up, down, forward or back is how you climb, dive and turn. Shooting is on the keyboard, with the Z key, the X key and the space bar all firing.
