Kingdom of Pixels

Kingdom of Pixels shrinks the MOBA formula from games like League of Legends and Dota down to blocky pixel sprites, and it works. Pick a hero, hold a lane, and kill enough minions and enemy heroes to stack up gold and experience. Gold buys items that change how your hero fights, and experience makes you strong enough to survive the fights that decide a match.

The map rewards paying attention beyond your own lane. Runes and brushes let you ambush from cover or grab a temporary edge before a fight starts. Ranged heroes poke from range while melee heroes brawl up close, so the roster actually plays differently game to game rather than reskinning the same hero.

How to play

Choose a hero from the roster, then head down a lane and fight. Killing minions and enemy heroes earns gold for items and experience for levels, both of which matter more than any single kill. Grab runes and use brushes to set up ambushes or escape a bad fight. Once your team is strong enough, push a lane and destroy the enemy crystal before they destroy yours.

Controls

W jumps, A moves left, S moves right and D drops down, an unusual left-right layout worth noting. Left-click throws a basic attack, Ctrl fires your first ability and Alt fires your second. Mouse-aim can be toggled off on the right side of the screen if you prefer keys only.
