What makes this one work for very young players is what it leaves out. There is no timer, no lives, and no losing screen - a wrong pair simply flips back and you try again. For a four-year-old, that difference is everything, because the game never takes the board away mid-thought.
The pups are the other half of it. Each one is a strong, separate colour, so a child who cannot yet hold a grid in their head can still remember "the red one was over there". Boards open at four cards and grow steadily, which means a first session ends in a win rather than a stall, and the harder grids arrive only once the basic idea has landed.
How to play
Tap or click a card to turn it over, then turn over a second one. If the same pup appears on both, the pair stays face up; otherwise both cards flip back and nothing is lost. Begin with the four-card board and let the grid grow as the child clears it. Colour is the easiest handle for small children, so prompting them with "which one was the red pup?" works better than pointing at squares.
Controls
Touch or mouse only. A single tap turns a card face up; two face-up cards are checked automatically. Nothing else is needed.
