Sonic Memory Match Up

Sonic Memory Match Up is a card matching game that starts almost too easy on purpose. Four cards, two pairs, and anyone can clear it. Then the grid grows, and somewhere around the third or fourth size the game stops being about luck and starts being about whether you were paying attention two turns ago.

The characters help more than you would expect. Sonic, Tails and Amy are distinct enough at a glance that a child remembers a position by who was on it rather than by counting squares, which is exactly what makes the bigger boards playable. Every flip is a small test of recall, and the game never punishes a wrong guess with anything worse than flipping the cards back.

How to play

Click a card to turn it face up, then click a second one. If the two characters match, the pair stays revealed; if not, both flip back and it is your turn again. The trick on the larger boards is to open a new card deliberately rather than at random, so that every miss still teaches you where something is. Clear the board to move up to the next size.

Controls

Mouse or touch only. One click or tap flips a card, and a second click on another card completes the guess. No dragging, no keyboard, and no timer forcing you to rush the choice.
