Cover Dance NY Party is set on New Year's Eve, which gives it a look most dance games do not have: the costumes lean festive, the stage is dressed for the holiday, and the routine you are building is meant for that one night.

The game is split between the wardrobe and the floor. What your dancer wears is a real choice rather than decoration, and the levels behind her are what turn a look into a performance. Progress is measured in levels cleared, so the run has an actual finish line: work through them all and the dancer stops being one of the crowd and becomes the one people came to watch.

How to play

Start by putting your dancer together: the outfit, the hair and the accessories all get chosen before she takes the floor. Then play through the levels one at a time, following what each routine asks of you and finishing it cleanly to move on. If a level goes badly, it costs nothing to run it again, and a routine you have played twice is easier to read the third time.

Controls

One click or one touch is the entire interface. On a computer the mouse pointer picks the outfits and drives the routine, and on a phone or tablet the same taps land on the same buttons. There is no keyboard input and nothing to hold down.
