Iron Legion

Iron Legion is a tank game that asks you to pick a role before it asks you to shoot. The choice runs from light reconnaissance vehicles to heavy assault tanks, and it changes the match more than the armour numbers suggest - a scout that stops moving is finished, while a heavy that keeps moving never gets where it was needed.

Damage is tracked by where a shell lands rather than as a single health bar, so angles matter and a hit is not automatically a hit that counts. Battles run in real time with teams of up to 20, and the maps have enough terrain detail to hide behind, which is usually the difference between a shot taken and a shot received.

How to play

Drive with W, A, S and D or the arrow keys, swing the mouse to turn the camera, and fire with the left mouse button. Holding the right mouse button brings up the aim, which is what you want before taking a long shot rather than during one. Pick a vehicle that suits how you intend to play, use the terrain on each map as cover, and put what you earn from missions back into upgrading it.

On desktop: W, A, S and D or the arrow keys drive the tank, the mouse rotates the camera, the left mouse button fires, and the right mouse button aims.
