Spooky Chains

Spooky Chains is a matching puzzle with a different win condition to the usual score chase. You clear items not for points but to change the tiles underneath, and a level ends only when every tile has turned gold.

That small change rewires how you play. A big chain in a corner you have already finished is wasted effort, and the useful move is often a short chain in the one spot that is still dull. Items fall in to fill the gaps, so where you clear from decides what you are given next. Later boards tuck the tiles you still need under the items you have least of. A witch occasionally drifts across the board, and catching her turns a patch of tiles gold in one go.

How to play

Press on a tile and drag across neighbouring items that match it to build a chain of three or more, then release to clear them. The cleared tiles turn golden and fresh items drop in to fill the space, so the aim is to keep working the areas that have not changed yet rather than wherever the biggest chain happens to be. A level is finished when the last dull tile has turned gold.

Controls

Play with the mouse or a touchpad. Press and hold on your first item, drag through the matching items next to it to build the chain, and release to clear them. A finger on a touchscreen does the same thing.
