Workshop Tools Link

Workshop Tools Link is a matching board built out of spanners, saws and drills, and the rule that shapes every single move is the one about corners. The line joining two identical tools may turn twice and no more, so a pair sitting in plain sight halfway across the board can be impossible to take while an awkward-looking pair tucked round a corner connects on the first try.

The clock is the other half of it. Combing the whole board for the tidiest pair costs time you do not have, so most runs settle into a rhythm: clear the easy outer pairs quickly, and every tile you take opens another route into the crowded middle where the stubborn ones are sitting.

How to play

Find two identical tools, click one and then the other, and they clear if the line between them can be drawn with two turns or fewer. Pairs along the outside edges are the safest place to begin, because each tile you remove opens a path through the board for the ones locked in the middle. Watch the timer and take the connection in front of you instead of hunting for a neater one somewhere else.

Controls

Play with the mouse or a touchpad. Click one tool and then its twin, and the connecting line is drawn for you; if the pair clears, the route needed two turns or fewer. When a click removes nothing, the path between those two tools needed more corners than the game allows, so leave them and open the board up elsewhere first.
