Sniper Shooting Offline Games

Sniper Shooting is a game of waiting rather than shooting. Most of any mission is spent behind the scope, sweeping the area at a zoom level that shows you enough detail to pick the right target without narrowing your view so far that you lose track of everyone else.

The rhythm is what sets it apart from run-and-gun shooters. You zoom, you settle, you fire, and then the whole area knows roughly where you are, which makes the second shot considerably harder than the first. The mouse wheel is doing most of the work here, because choosing your zoom is really choosing between a precise shot and an awareness of what is moving around the edges of the frame.

How to play

Look through the scope and move the crosshair over your target, adjusting the zoom until the shot feels certain rather than hopeful. Take the time to line it up, because a miss tells everyone in the area where you are firing from. Work through the targets a mission gives you, and pull back to a wider zoom between shots so you can see what has started moving. Missions run offline, so a lost connection does not end a run.

Controls

The left mouse button fires the rifle. The mouse wheel zooms the scope in and out, and the right mouse button toggles the zoom straight in or back out when you need to change your view quickly.
