Christmas Matching Game

Christmas Matching Game is the simple pairing puzzle dressed for December. The board fills with festive pictures, you find the two that are the same, and you join them - that is the whole rule, and it is why the game works for a room with different ages in it.

What keeps it from being trivial is the board filling up. Early on the pairs sit near each other and the matches are obvious; later you are scanning a busy grid where two near-identical ornaments are at opposite corners.

It runs in portrait and rearranges itself for whatever screen you open it on, so the same puzzle plays the same way on a phone passed around the sofa as it does on a desktop.

How to play

Look over the board and find two pictures that show the same thing, then connect them to take the pair off the grid. Clear every pair and the round is done. The easy matches go first and thin the board out, which makes the awkward ones near the edges easier to spot. Nothing rushes you, so a slow read of the whole grid before your first match usually saves time later.

Controls

On a desktop, use the left mouse button to link a picture to its matching pair. On a phone or tablet, tap a picture and hold as you stretch the connection across to its partner. The counters for the round sit in the upper left corner of the game screen.
