Emerland Solitaire is ordinary card solitaire until you look at what is around it. You clear the tableau by working through the layout card by card and stringing combinations together, the way solitaire has always asked you to - but the levels sit inside a story about mages fighting over an ancient source of card magic.
You travel with three companions: a knight, an elven archeress and a sorceress, and finishing levels earns rewards and new helpers to bring along. The layouts get awkward on purpose, hiding the card you need under two you cannot reach yet, so the long chain that clears half a board is the difference between passing a level and starting it again.
How to play
Each level puts a spread of cards in front of you, and you work it down by taking the cards that link up with the one you are holding. Chains matter: several cards in a row score far more than the same cards taken one at a time, and some layouts only open up if you clear them in the right order. Finishing a level pays rewards and brings new helpers into your party for the trials ahead.
Controls
One button does everything: click a card with the mouse to play it, then click again for the next one in the chain. On a phone or tablet, tap the cards instead. There is nothing to drag and nothing to hold down, so the whole game is playable one-handed.
